Jan Bednarz is an animator turned documentary filmmaker, and one half of the Buzz Films partnership. As a 'shooting' director, Jan has made content for broadcasters such as 'Art Savant', '3 minutes to save the world' and 'The Gumball Rally' for C4, alongside numerous films for NGOs and charities, and international content for cable and web channels - such as the award winning 'Burj Birdmen' on Current TV, which has had over 400,000 hits since it's launch. Jan started Buzz Films in the early part of 2009, and beat over 70 pitches for the opportunity to document the Homeless World Cup event for Nike, and is currently developing a web based strategy for the 2010 event in Rio.

The purpose of these mini-labs is 

-Provide potential competitors with information about the competition, its scope and how to enter

-Stimulate debate about the impact of digital technology on society, politics, the economy, education, culture

-Inspire participants to generate ideas for subjects and topics to cover

-Give practical tips and advice on making, digitising and posting their films
