John's a producer that specialises in multiplatform projects. After starting his media career in radio, he moved to the BBC's science department and worked on popular formats like Tomorrow's World, Science at Christmas and How to be a Human, and became one of the original producers on the BBC's then-fledgling web site. In 2001 he moved entirely into interactive production - leading projects ranging from blue chip nature to landmark history to participative science on TV, web, red button, mobile and outreach events. In the last year John has led development on the BBC's Darwin-related activity and its own year of science, planned for 2010.

Commissioning the Future

Commissioning The Future is the new European training initiative for commissioning editors and funders, developed by Crossover (UK) in partnership with Documentary Campus (Germany) and Sheffield Doc/Fest (UK).

We strongly believe that it is vital to train the decision-makers in order for the convergent marketplace to really thrive. Therefore we have developed this new European training course offering three five-day long creative and commercial innovation labs, focused on commissioning for the emerging convergent digital media ecology.
