Patrick Uden is an experienced producer of factual television programmes. It is an experience routed in a 39-year career in broadcast television.

In 1970 he joined the BBC Tomorrow's world Production team as a film director and progressed as a staff producer/director through several innovative factual programmes including The Risk Business, QED and the Tuesday Documentary to establish a reputation as an efficient and creative programme maker culminating in 1977 with his unique visualisation of Jonathon Miller's 13-part series The Body In Question broadcasting during 1978/9 in Britain, Canada, Australia and the USA.

In December 1981 Patrick resigned from the BBC, departing in March 1982 to establish his own production company called Uden Associates Ltd on April fool's Day that year. For its entire training life the company was based in Chelsea Wharf a brilliant, well-designed warehouse studio overlooking the River Thames in Southwest London. The company quickly established itself an unmatched reputation in the independent sector for intelligent and well-crafted programmes produced by a team of relatively young and enthusiastic film directors. Patrick devised programmes for Cutting Edge, Short stories, Bookmark, Horizon, True Stories, QED, Secret Lives and invented Channel four's science strands Equinox.

Uden Associates Ltd ceased trading in the winter of 2003/4. The company had formally trained over 600 youngsters and started the television careers of many others. In February 2004 Patrick established Uden Media Ltd. Through his ‘micro indie' Patrick returned to front-line programme making. Through Uden-Media Patrick has been the driving force behind Channel Four's BAFTA-award winning interactive documentary site FourDocs. Since its inception Patrick has been a consultant on the factual entertainment series The Apprentice BBC2 made by TalkbackTHAMES. Among other projects, Patrick has helped to develop reality series for Diverse, Silver River, Mentorn and the BBC. For the digital channel More4 Patrick Executive Edited Hypnosurgery Live for ZigZag. And for BBC1 he Executive produced the original Comic Relief Does the Apprentice talkbackTHAMES. He also Co Executive Produced the Restaurant for BBC2.

Patrick Uden lectures Film and Media students and is an enthusiast of on-the-job training. Patrick's main interests outside the world of film and television are modern architecture and design, American jazz and blues, 20th century industrial and military history, post war Italian motorcycles and urban cycling. He enjoys motorcycle maintenance. He is an avid flower of the technical developments in Formula One motor racing.
